Breguet brings the luxury of Marine Hora Mundi to the Only Watch watch Gilded world map.
Breguet has launched a unique version of the World Time watch at the highly anticipated charity auction Only Watch. The Marine Hora Mundi 5555 "Only Watch 2023" brings a new look to a jumping hour dual time zone sports watch in Breguet's unusually striking, rich colours, with a dial that departs from the traditional world map motif. A gold-plated globe on the dial represents illuminated regions of the world at night.
initial thoughts Marine Hora Mundi has been a hidden gem since its debut last year. This watch has the ingenious complication of jumping time and two places, and it is also the most popular luxury sports watch in the watchmaking industry in recent years.
While the production dial of the Hora Mundi feels relatively flat, the Only Watch version is far more striking. The dial pattern is an ingenious concept, never before used in watchmaking, with gold-plated decorations used to represent the world's population. In addition, the latitude and longitude lines on the original dial have been canceled to make the map and guilloche more prominent.
Deluxe Edition of 5557 The Only Watch version is a luxurious iteration of the standard Hora Mundi 5557. The focus of this model is ease of switching between time zones: at the push of a button, the movement switches instantly between home time and local time. Not only do the hour and minute hands jump to show the new time zone, the date and day/night indicators also switch in sync with the hands. With its clever and user-friendly design, this complication is one of the most advanced world time watches on the market.
While retaining some stylistic elements of the standard model, the Only Watch version has design revisions to its dial, notably the world map. The dial base remains the same, with its guilloché wave pattern, but now in an attractive bright blue hue, a few shades lighter than the dark blue of the standard model. The Roman numerals and Breguet hands are also identical.
However, modifications to the Only Watch version give it a very different look. The lume on the hands and hour markers is now a vibrant red, in stark contrast to the predominantly blue dial.
To pay tribute to Only Watch's home city, the city in the GMT+1 time zone has been changed from 'Paris' to 'Monaco'.
But the most striking feature of the dial is the world map printed on the sapphire disc above the guilloché dial. Rendered in dark blue and sprinkled with rose gold dots, it depicts illuminated regions of the world at night.
The watch has an 18K rose gold case with an inscription on the back making it unique. It maintains the same dimensions as the standard model, though, measuring 43.9mm in diameter and 13.8mm tall.
The movement is also the same as the regular production watch – cal. 77F1 is an in-house automatic movement with an innovative jumping time zone display. Like the standard Marine model, it has an oscillating weight shaped like a ship's wheel.
